Organic farmer Kanazawa Agriculture in February, 2001

I started to help my father farm in 1997. Back then, my father was using organic fertilizer and growing three main kinds of crops, which were rice, soy and barley. By establishing organic farming, I wanted to continue what my father was trying to do and work for the farming of safe foods. JONA (Japan Organic & Natural Association) pays attention to the cultivation of good soils and is based on the use of organic fertilizer and not using agricultural chemicals such as pesticides. Organic fertilizer is what my father was taking effort for. Now, what we need to work on is using no agricultural chemicals. Though we have a large amount of land to maintain for farming, we can use machines to weed instead of spreading herbicides. Also, we are able to get enough space for impingement protection from the habitual (non-organic) farming around our farm. Thanks to the big-scaled farming land, we "Kanazawa Agriculture" are authorized by JONA in February, 2001.

Protect Soil and Keep Water Clean with Organic Agriculture

Agriculture is the industry, which has infinite possibilities. Its products sustain all human lives with food, which is the most essential part. At the same time, agriculture plays a role in cleaning up the environment. For example, agriculture has water holing functions in the farms. The two biggest missions that organic agriculture strives to achieve on this planet are keeping the environment clean and nurturing human beings.
Today, a "Green Environment" is the most important issue in business management. Many corporations and business industries have started to move towards a recycle-oriented society. Agriculture is supposed to take the lead in the field of green management. However, many farmers are also still encouraging the destruction of our environment by spreading chemical fertilizers and contaminating the soil and groundwater. Chemical herbicides and pesticides poison our beautiful ecosystem. This is completely opposite from what we farmers should be doing for the planet. We need to make a change from the agricultural practices that are damaging the environment into an agricultural way that helps to protect the environment. There is an answer in organic farming.
We want to treat the lands we already have nicely, grow safe crops, and pass down the healthy connection between nature and human beings for decades, centuries, millennia's and even eons, in spite of any social changes.

Welcome to "Kanazawa Daichi," Welcome to "Agri Hagu Hug"

Hello, I'm Shinjiro Imura. I operate this organic farm in the Kahoku-gata reclaimed land near Kanazawa city. In this page, I'm going to introduce our standards and ideas on developing these organic ingredients into processed products. Also, let me talk about the story of "Kanazawa agriculture," which focuses on the organic cultivation of soy, rice and wheat, and the agricultural factory "Kanazawa Daichi," which focuses on the processing of all these organic materials and also my future attempts on this field through "Agri Hagu Hug" project.
"Kanazawa Agriculture" is a group of producers who are authorized as organic JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standards) by Japan Organic & Natural Foods Association. Our main crops are Barley, Wheat, Soy and Rice. "Kanazawa Daichi" is the marketing division of products harvested from "Kanazawa Agriculture."
